Following a hilariously unhappy grammar school experience and leaving that awful place at 15, Graeme became an apprentice fitter. He then went to university and trained as a primary school teacher in 1981.

He has a very wide range of experience in teaching (from Nursery and Reception, KS 1, 2, 3, 4; Entry level- level 5 in FE). He was a senior lecturer in Post Compulsory Education for six years at Sunderland University and was Programme Leader for the PGCE and BA Honours in Education. He is a qualified tree surgeon (non-practising now!) and still occasionally teaches bushcraft and woodland survival.

Within FE, Graeme has been a Head of Department, Assistant Principal and Vice Principal (Curriculum and Quality) within two FE colleges. Additionally, he was an Ofsted Inspector for nine years, as well as a university external examiner. He was a founding director of the Learning Consortium and inventor of the CSPARR Learning Cycle.

He has delivered lectures to national and international education conferences on education resilience, coaching as a model of CPD, teenage mental wellbeing and evidence-based practice. He has also worked as an education consultant with over twenty colleges and universities.

Graeme is a trained therapist registered with the BACP and currently divides his time between a College Counsellor/ Psychological Wellbeing Officer role and researching a PhD at Newcastle University focusing on the emotional impact of maths teaching and learning.

He is the best (and only) guitarist in his street, ditto painter. He also has a rescue Staffordshire bull terrier called Susie who is his mentor

Matt Bromley is an education writer and advisor with over twenty years’ experience in teaching and leadership. This includes roles as a secondary school head teacher and principal, FE college vice principal, and MAT director. He is a public speaker, trainer, school improvement lead, and a primary school governor. He remains a practising teacher, currently working in secondary, FE and HE settings.

Matt writes for various newspapers and magazines and is the author of numerous best-selling books for teachers. Matt sits on SecEd’s editorial board and co-hosts their podcast, and writes most of their monthly pull-out best practice supplements.

He is the author of numerous best-selling books for teachers including ‘How to Become a School Leader’, ‘The IQ Myth’, ‘The Art of Public Speaking’, ‘Teach’ and ‘Teach 2’, ‘Making Key Stage 3 Count’, ‘The New Teacher Survival Kit’, and ‘How to Lead’. His latest books are part of a trilogy entitled ‘School & College Curriculum Design’.

Matt’s education blog, voted one of the UK’s most influential, receives over 50,000 unique visitors a year. In addition to blog posts, Matt provides free downloadable resources including instructional videos, podcasts, posters and ebooks.

He regularly speaks at national and international conferences and events, and provides education advice to charities, government agencies, training providers, colleges and multi-academy trusts. He works as a consultant and trainer with several companies including Creative Education (for whom he also takes a leading role on the development of online training programmes), Osiris Educational, Forum Business Media, the Regional Training Agency, Keynote Educational, the ETF, the National College, Inside Government, GwE, the Association of Colleges, and the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges. He also provides a wide selection of direct-to-market consultancy and training services through his own company, Bromley Education, which he founded in 2012. He is involved in several government-funded projects and ghost-writes sponsored education content for a number of large organisations.

Between 2013 and 2016 Matt was the Group Director for a large further education college and multi-academy trust (a combined role encompassing: college Vice Principal, MAT Director, and academy Principal Designate) and was responsible for improving the quality of teaching of c30,000 students. During his tenure the Ofsted judgment for further education provision improved from ‘requires improvement’ to ‘good’ with outstanding features, teacher training provision was graded ‘outstanding’, higher education provision was ‘commended’ by the QAA, and exam results placed the college within the top 20th percentile in the country. Matt was also a sponsor and governor of the trust’s secondary academy which, during this tenure, achieved the best GCSE results in its history.

After a brief spell as an actor, Paul began teaching in 1987 and has been involved in the education sector ever since. He has worked in both state and private schools and for a number of local authorities and government agencies. He has also taught secondary music teachers on an ITT programme. He is a Google Certified Trainer and Innovator.

Ben is a former assistant principal and religious studies/sociology teacher. He has experience in apprenticeships, quality, curriculum management, digital transformation and business development. Ben is Chair of Governors at a primary school and a trustee of a charity. He is now CEO of Round Peg Square Holes Ltd, a business and education consultancy service, and co-hosts the Edufuturists podcast.
