WYCC launches free 'all female' leadership course

Research has shown that the COVID pandemic has had a disproportionate effect on women’s employment and progression prospects.

Many of the sectors that traditionally include a high percentage of female workers were affected by lockdown closures. As companies contracted, promotion opportunities followed suit. In addition, it became quite apparent that when children were unable to attend schools, it was predominantly the women who became the home schoolers and carers.

As the economy recovers and employment and progression opportunities increase it is only fair that women can now access training and support to help them make up for lost time.

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority is working with The West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges and Calderdale College to deliver an ‘all female’ leadership and team leader training course. This is fully funded through the ESF [re]boot programme so free to individuals.

The course is designed for women with little or no team leading or line management experience but who see this as the next step on their career journey. Employers always rank team working as a highly prized and in demand skill for their employees. However, to ensure a team can develop and grow into the most effective unit it can be requires leadership.

The training covers aspects team dynamics and communication, how to improve a team’s overall performance, understanding what core leadership skills are and above all, how to effectively apply these in a workplace setting. The skills gained from this course will boost your knowledge and confidence and provide an industry recognised ILM certificate, to aid your progression plans.

Delivered in a 1-day session, participants will gain a unit of the ILM Level 2 award in Leadership and Team Leader skills. The course will be delivered by Calderdale College at their dedicated employer training facility on the 21, 22 and 28 March.
